Covenant Monitoring

Catch covenant breaches before they happen

Covenant monitoring software tracks financial covenants (DSCR, ICR, LTV, leverage ratios) against configurable thresholds and alerts fund managers when values approach or breach limits. CapitalBridge provides three-state monitoring: compliant, at risk, and non-compliant, with configurable headroom percentages for early warning.

Manual covenant checking means you find breaches after the fact. CapitalBridge monitors every threshold continuously, warns you when headroom shrinks, and flags breaches the moment data arrives.

The Problem

Manual covenant tracking is a ticking clock

Most fund managers track covenants in spreadsheets. Financial data arrives quarterly, gets manually entered, and someone eyeballs whether thresholds are met. By the time a breach is discovered, it is already a problem. There is no early warning, no headroom visibility, and no way to see the full picture across 50 or 100 counterparties.

  • Breaches discovered after the fact, not before
  • No visibility into how close a covenant is to the threshold
  • Excel-based tracking with no audit trail
  • No early warning system for deteriorating metrics

How It Works

Configure once. Monitor continuously.

Covenant monitoring software that works the way you think about covenants: set your thresholds, watch the dashboard, get alerted when something needs attention.

1

Set Thresholds

Define covenant thresholds for DSCR, ICR, LTV, Minimum Cash, Asset Cover, and any custom metric. Set the threshold value, the comparison operator (greater than, less than, equal to), and the headroom percentage that triggers an early warning. Apply at the portfolio level, or override for specific categories or individual counterparties.

Threshold Configuration
CovenantOperatorThresholdHeadroom
DSCR ≥ min 1.20x 15%
LTV ≤ max 75% 10%
ICR ≥ min 1.50x 20%
Min Cash ≥ min $500K 25%

Monitor in Real-Time

Every time a counterparty submits financial data, covenant values are calculated automatically. The dashboard shows green, amber, or red status for every covenant across every counterparty. No manual checking. No spreadsheet formulas. Just open the dashboard and see where you stand.

Get Alerted Early

Headroom monitoring is the difference between proactive management and reactive firefighting. When a covenant value enters the headroom zone, you get an amber warning before it becomes a red breach. That gives you time to engage the counterparty, request updated projections, or prepare a waiver request. Covenant tracking software should prevent problems, not just report them.

Capabilities

Built for institutional-grade monitoring

Financial covenant compliance requires precision, auditability, and flexibility. CapitalBridge covenant monitoring software delivers all three without adding complexity.

Configurable thresholds

Each covenant can have its own threshold value and comparison operator. DSCR must be greater than 1.20x. LTV must be less than 75%. Minimum Cash must exceed $500,000. You define the rules per covenant, per counterparty. No rigid templates that force you into someone else's definitions.

Headroom early warnings

Set a headroom percentage for each covenant. When the actual value enters the headroom zone, the status changes from green to amber. A DSCR of 1.22x with a 15% headroom on a 1.20x threshold shows amber, giving you advance notice to investigate before a breach occurs. Automated covenant alerts replace the manual checking cycle entirely.

Historical trend tracking

Every covenant value is stored with the reporting period it belongs to. Track DSCR over four quarters and see whether it is stable, improving, or deteriorating. Trend data is essential for credit committee reporting and proactive portfolio management.

Cascading assignment rules

Set default covenant thresholds at the portfolio level. Override at the category level for sector-specific norms. Override again at the individual counterparty level for negotiated terms. The most specific scope always wins. New counterparties automatically inherit the appropriate rules.

Full audit trail

Every threshold change is logged with the user who made it, the timestamp, and the previous value. When an auditor asks why a Min Cash threshold was lowered from $750K to $500K for a specific counterparty, you can show the exact record. No more relying on email chains or spreadsheet version histories to reconstruct what happened.

Connected

Covenants are part of the bigger picture

Covenant monitoring does not exist in isolation. In CapitalBridge, covenant data comes from the same financial submissions that feed your reporting compliance workflow. When a counterparty submits their quarterly management accounts, the system simultaneously updates their compliance status and recalculates all covenant values. One submission, two compliance dimensions covered.

Breaches trigger escalation workflows. At-risk covenants appear on the fund manager dashboard alongside overdue submissions. Board reports pull covenant status alongside reporting compliance rates. Everything is connected because that is how compliance actually works.

From a portfolio manager

"Every missed deadline is a compliance risk. Every manual step is a point of failure. We eliminated both."

Why we built this

"The gap between a $200K enterprise platform and a shared spreadsheet should not be this wide. We built the thing that belongs in that gap."
